Applied improvisation

Workshops & facilitation

Practical learning. Lasting change. Engaging experiences. Today's workplace demands more than technical expertise. Professionals are expected to communicate clearly, adapt quickly, collaborate effectively, think creatively, and navigate constant change.

The common thread running through my work is applied improvisation. The skills improvisers use every day—listening deeply, thinking on their feet, embracing uncertainty, building on ideas, and staying present—are the very same skills that help professionals succeed in today's workplace. My workshops transform those principles into practical business tools that participants can apply immediately. Sessions are highly interactive, engaging, and grounded in real workplace challenges. No acting experience is ever required, and no one is put on the spot to perform. Participants leave with practical strategies they can use the very next day.

Communication & presence

Speak on the Spot

Many professionals struggle when they have to speak without preparation. A question catches them off guard, a meeting shifts direction, or they suddenly need to explain an idea clearly in the moment.

Improvisers train for exactly these situations.

In this highly interactive workshop, participants learn practical improvisation techniques that help them think faster, organize ideas quickly, and communicate with confidence, even without a script.

Through simple exercises adapted from professional improvisation, participants practice responding in real time, structuring thoughts on the fly, and remaining calm under pressure. The focus is never on being funny. It is on building the mental flexibility and communication skills needed to succeed in everyday business situations.

With minimal slides and plenty of guided practice, this session is energetic, engaging, and immediately applicable.

Participants will learn to:

  • Organize ideas quickly
  • Respond confidently to unexpected questions
  • Think more clearly under pressure
  • Speak with greater confidence and authenticity
  • Apply practical improvisation tools to meetings, presentations, networking, and everyday conversations

Adaptability & change

Think Fast, Adapt Faster

Work is changing faster than ever.

Organizations are navigating AI integration, reorganizations, shifting priorities, new leadership, hybrid work, and constant uncertainty. Success depends on more than resilience. It requires adaptability.

This interactive workshop helps participants build the practical skills needed to remain clear-headed, collaborative, and effective when plans change and information is incomplete.

Using applied improvisation techniques designed specifically for workplace settings, participants practice navigating situations such as:

Situations we practice:

  • Leadership transitions
  • AI and technology integration
  • Role changes
  • Organizational restructuring
  • Resource constraints
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Hybrid and remote work
  • Rapid decision-making
  • Constantly shifting priorities

Participants will learn to:

  • Stay calm during uncertainty
  • Communicate effectively before all the answers are known
  • Adapt quickly when priorities shift
  • Build trust during periods of change
  • Strengthen resilience and learning agility
  • Collaborate more effectively across teams

Ideal for individual contributors, managers, and leaders navigating today's rapidly evolving workplace.

Innovation & collaboration

Unblocking Creativity at Work

When teams become stuck, creativity slows. Meetings become repetitive, ideas lose momentum, and innovation suffers.

Creativity isn't about talent.

It's about creating the conditions that allow ideas to emerge, evolve, and move forward.

This workshop introduces practical collaboration techniques that help teams generate stronger ideas, build on one another's thinking, and move from brainstorming to meaningful action.

Using applied improvisation methods adapted for business, participants practice simple, engaging exercises that strengthen listening, idea generation, flexibility, and co-creation. No acting or performance is involved.

Participants will learn to:

  • Generate more ideas without overthinking
  • Build on others' ideas rather than shutting them down
  • Move efficiently from brainstorming to action
  • Collaborate more effectively across functions
  • Foster psychological safety
  • Support experimentation and innovation

Ideal for:

  • Strategy sessions
  • Innovation initiatives
  • AI transformation work
  • Cross-functional teams
  • Leadership offsites
  • Product development
  • Planning sessions

Participants leave with repeatable techniques they can immediately apply to creative work and team collaboration.

AI & human collaboration

Yes.AI: The Improv Playbook for Collaborating with AI

Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work, think, and create.

Yet many professionals still approach AI as if it were simply a search engine.

This workshop introduces a different mindset.

Drawing on principles from applied improvisation, participants learn how to collaborate with AI the way improvisers collaborate with one another: making clear offers, building on ideas, refining responses, and iterating toward stronger outcomes.

Using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot, participants explore practical ways AI can support writing, brainstorming, planning, problem solving, communication, and everyday work.

The workshop combines discussion, live demonstrations, hands-on experimentation, and collaborative exercises that participants can immediately apply.

Participants will learn to:

  • Prompt AI more effectively
  • Improve the quality of AI responses
  • Use AI as a creative thinking partner
  • Refine ideas through iterative collaboration
  • Apply practical AI techniques to everyday work

No technical background is required. Just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

AI & human collaboration

Yes.AI 2: Designing Human-AI Workflows

The first Yes.AI workshop focuses on improving conversations with AI.

This advanced session explores something even more powerful: designing complete workflows where humans and AI collaborate across multiple stages of a project.

Rather than relying on isolated prompts, participants learn how to structure repeatable collaboration systems in which AI serves different roles throughout the creative process, including idea generator, editor, critic, researcher, synthesizer, and thought partner.

Inspired by the collaborative principles of improvisation, participants discover how humans and AI can build better outcomes together.

Participants will learn to:

  • Design repeatable AI workflows
  • Break complex work into collaborative stages
  • Assign AI different thinking roles
  • Improve planning, communication, and creative problem solving
  • Build efficient human-AI collaboration systems

Ideal for professionals who already use AI and want to move beyond prompting toward designing smarter, more effective ways of working.
